E&O Diagnostics Ltd was formed in 2000 after the acquisition and relocation of a local food testing business in Bellshill to the Group's manufacturing site at Burnhouse. The laboratory was launched with a plan to incorporate analytical testing for food, water and environmental (FWE) samples with its existing remit for quality control testing of ready to use culture media manufactured by E&O Laboratories Ltd.
In the spring of 2008 the laboratory extended the scope of their existing UKAS ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accreditation for microbiology quality control testing for E&O
Laboratories Ltd to incorporate physical and microbiological test methods for the analysis of ready to use culture media.
In the autumn of 2012, E&O Diagnostics Ltd
changed direction again due to market influences it decided to close its
commercial food testing service and expanded into more industrial research and
development projects focusing primarily on culture media formulations for
E&O Laboratories Ltd ready to use media lines.
